On The Issues

Jobs & The Economy

To create good paying jobs, we need to implement policies to attract new businesses and investment. The Montana Legislature should look for ways to eliminate unnecessary regulation, improve opportunities for Montana businesses, and encourage the responsible development of our natural resources.

Responsible Government

The Montana Legislature has a responsibility to be a good steward of public resources. All spending decisions should be transparent and made in the best interests of Montana. The Legislature should only spend money for services we actually need and never tolerate any waste, fraud, or abuse in state government.

Education

The Legislature must ensure our children receive an education that will allow them to think critically and to compete in a global economy. Our schools must be innovative, accountable, and prepared for the challenges of tomorrow. In addition, our colleges and universities should be affordable and address current job opportunities and workplace needs.

Healthcare

Patients and doctors, not government bureaucrats, should make healthcare decisions. We can improve affordability by reducing the cost of defensive medicine and supporting initiatives to improve patient outcomes.  I support efforts to expand access by increasing recruitment, training, and retention of healthcare professionals.

Public Access & Conservation

Hunting and fishing are valuable wildlife management tools and traditions that should be preserved.  I support the right of sportsmen and other members of the public to access our state and federal lands.

Taxes

Taxes should be low, simple, and free of loopholes. I believe our tax policies should be changed to favor saving, investment, job creation, and economic growth. Any changes in our tax policies should not result in a net tax increase.

Public Safety

I have voted to enhance penalties for violent offenders and to give prosecutors more tools to keep the people of Montana safe.  I oppose any efforts to defund the police.
